Whaley Bridge's 2013 Water Weekend - W3 - will be on Friday 7 June, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June. Now the town's top summer event, the Water Weekend has become famous for its FREE boat trips. This will be the 14th W3, building on the very successful event in 2012, when, despite rain, over 1,200 people took a boat trip.
Chairman Barry Rudd and his team have been working hard on creating a programme that will see many of the favourites back at the Canal Basin, with some new acts and attractions.
But the main attraction - as ever - is the free boat trips. Barry said: "The boat trips are always No 1 on our list. We think visitors to W3 deserve a break in these hard times, which is why the trips are free. We've got the meerkats again, birds of prey, bags of market stalls for summer bargains, and music, music, music! After last year's first, the climbing wall will be back."
MUSIC: Following its 2012 success, the Friday night launch will be a presentation of acoustic bands and acts in the Mechanics' Institute - with a bar this year. At the same time, there are plans for a gig aimed at younger fans with local bands on the canalside stage

The Water Weekend was founded through an initiative by Whaley Bridge town council in 2000. We wish to thank the town council for financial and other support, and a commitment to the future.
Thanks also to British Waterways for permission to use the canal basin and High Peak borough council for use of the car park.
Special thanks go to our main sponsor for a sixth year, Autotech Service Centre; also to our primary sponsors the Jodrell Arms, Chronicle Accountants, Peartree Print, DJS Research and
The Review.
Also to the many advertisers, to our supporters and volunteers, especially the crews of our boats, and the committee.
Without these layers of support, there would be no event.
