Friday 8 June
It rained heavily all day in Whaley Bridge, and well before the Friday night opening, the decision was taken to move the show from the canalside stage to the Mechanics' Institute....
After soggy Saturday, not to mention ferocious Friday's rain deluge, the final day of Whaley Water Weekend turned out nice. Very nice!
There was sunshine well into the evening in Whaley Bridge, as Paris was seeing the French men's tennis final rained off.
W3 chairman Barry Rudd, well pleased with the event, said: "Thank you to all those brave souls who came on wet Saturday, then even more who came on sunny Sunday. I know you had a wonderful time.
"We are already working on next year's event."

Whaley Bridge is the home of W3...
a friendly little town in the High Peak area
of Derbyshire... an area of outstanding natural beauty...
known as the Gateway to the Goyt... 7 miles north of Buxton... 18 miles south of Manchester... 28 miles west of Sheffield
The Water Weekend was founded through an initiative by Whaley Bridge town council in 2000. We wish to thank the town council for financial and other support, and a commitment to the future.
Thanks also to British Waterways for permission to use the canal basin and High Peak borough council for use of the car park.
Special thanks go to our main sponsor for a sixth year, Autotech Service Centre; also to our primary sponsors the Jodrell Arms, Chronicle Accountants, Peartree Print, DJS Research and
The Review.
Also to the many advertisers, to our supporters and volunteers, especially the crews of our boats, and the committee.
Without these layers of support, there would be no event.
